Lacey Is Staying In Eastenders

Eastenders bosses have declared that actress Lacey Turner will remain in the show for "the forseeable future".

Soap bosses are keen to retain Turner, who plays Stacey Branning on the soap, and keep her character on board after proving her popularity with viewers.

With detectives blaming her husband Bradley Branning for the Queen Vic killing, Stacey looks likely to remain on board for some time.

Some 16.6 million viewers tuned in to Friday's EastEnders episode to see who murdered Archie Mitchell, the BBC says.

The killer was finally revealed in the 30-minute episode, which was filmed and broadcast live to mark the BBC One soap's 25th anniversary.

It featured 51 members of the cast, who had been rehearsing for three days.

In the finale, Stacey Slater, played by actress Lacey Turner, admitted she was Archie's murderer - the culmination of a long-running plotline.

Not Sure How True This is But

EastEnders' historic live episode has been thrown into chaos – after lead actress Lacey Turner was hit by suspected flu.

Lacey, who plays Stacey Slater, is supposed to have one of the main roles in the soap’s big night to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary.

But yesterday’s final dress rehearsal was cancelled after 21-year-old Lacey was sent home.

A source said: “She was croaking at cast members, saying ‘I can’t speak’.

“Lacey is always such a professional and she doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardise the live show.”

Bosses must decide whether to re-write tonight’s live episode to involve less of Lacey or use scenes which have been recorded during rehearsals in case the show has problems during broadcast.

The source added: “Fans will have to tune in to see if she makes it.”

EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Branning, took home the award for 'Outstanding Serial Drama Performance'.

Lacey Turner has revealed that she never misses the Christmas edition of EastEnders.

According to IrelandOnline, the actress, who plays Stacey Slater in the BBC One soap, doesn't normally like watching herself on television.

"I love Christmas because I get to be with my family and eat lots of food," Turner said. "They're all massive EastEnders fans.

"I can't usually bear to watch myself, but you don't miss the show on Christmas Day, do you?"

Lacey Turner has admitted that she cried after reading articles which described her as fat.

The comments came after she was photographed wearing a bikini during a holiday to Dubai last year.

Speaking to the News of the World, the EastEnders actress said: "The only thing [in the press] that hurt me was being called fat. I'm not toned because I don't go to the gym, but I'm not fat. I cried when I saw the article.

"I can see how easy it is to get obsessed with weight, but I won't go down that road. I'm happy with myself. I've just got to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks of me."

Turner also said that she is happier with her body since having a breast enlargement at the age of 18.

"I didn't do it to look sexy," she explained. "I felt odd and out of proportion. My body looked wrong. In my family, all the women have tiny chests. I know I was just 18, but I knew my shape wouldn't change because it's in my genes.

"I don't regret it. I think my body looks the way it should now. I'm proud I had the operation."

BBC soap EastEnders took top honours at last night's Mental Health Media awards for its portrayal of Stacey Slater's bipolar disorder.

Actress Lacey Turner - who plays Stacey - collected Mind's 'Making A Difference' trophy with her screen mother Gillian Wright (Jean Slater) for the show's "continued commitment to tackling mental health storylines in a sensitive and realistic way".

It was also noted by the mental health charity that EastEnders' "innovative and inspirational portrayals of mental distress have led to genuine impact".

EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer this afternoon told DS: "We've won many, many awards, gongs and trinkets in recent years, but to be told by the charity Mind, who are behind these awards, that we are making a difference is an accolade that all of us who work on the show can truly be proud of."

Earlier this year, Stacey Slater began showing signs of her bipolar condition following the death of her best friend Danielle Jones (Lauren Crace).

Mind's annual Mental Health Media awards were held at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in London last night.

EastEnders star Lacey Turner has revealed that her mother usually looks after her awards.

The 21-year-old actress, who plays troubled Stacey Branning on the Walford drama, went home with the best actress prize at the Inside Soap Awards for the fourth year running last week. She has also secured British Soap Award gongs and an NTA in the past.

Discussing her latest accolade, Turner commented: "It's nice to know the viewers appreciate all the work that you're doing.

"I think my mum will take this one, but what she does with them, I don't know. She thinks I won't keep them clean."

The star has been at the forefront of Albert Square storylines this year following Stacey's recent experiences with bipolar disorder.

"My best moment this year has been the bipolar storyline," Ireland Online quotes Turner as saying. "I'm really honoured that they trusted me with such a big event, but it petrified me at the same time. It's such a good opportunity."

An EastEnders fan recently said that she was diagnosed with the condition thanks to the plotline.
